Mad Samurai Productions develops and produces dynamic independent feature films and television, with a focus on smart genre fare within Canada and internationally. The company has developed and produced the features The Colony starring Laurence Fishburne & Bill Paxon, Cruel & Unusual starring Michael Eklund & Richard Harmon, Juggernaut starring Jack Kesy and Amanda Crew and most recently The Island Between Tides starring Paloma Kwiatkowski, Donal Logue & Adam Beach, and Executive Produced Hard Home starring Andrew Howard and Simone Kessell for Paramount Pictures.
A Vancouver native, Matthew has worked for several film companies over the years including Valhalla Motion Pictures (Terminator,The Walking Dead), Lighthouse Productions (The Sting, Taxi Driver, Mimic), Peace Arch Entertainment and Avrio Filmworks (Mindstorm, Chaos) before starting Mad Samurai Productions and producing the Genie and Leo award winning short MILO 55160 starring Patrick McKenna.
Matthew followed that success with his first feature THE COLONY starring Laurence Fishburne and Bill Paxton and produced his second feature CRUEL & UNUSUAL in partnership with EOne, Corus Entertainment and Bell Media. Matthew’s last feature JUGGERNAUT, starring Jack Kesy and Amanda Crew, was produced in partnership with levelFILM and Telefilm Canada. He most recently produced THE ISLAND BETWEEN TIDES, inspired by the story Mary Rose from J.M. Barrie who created the iconic Peter Pan, starring Donal Logue, Adam Beach, David Mazouz and Paloma Kwiatkowski and Executive Produced the film Hard Home starring Andrew Howard and Simone Kessell for Paramount Pictures.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from the USC School of Cinema/Television and attended the Producer’s Lab at the Canadian Film Centre.
